My Favorite Things: IKEA LEKSVIK buffets

The IKEA LEKSVIK buffets are awesome.
Oh. You don't believe me?
Well then.

Snazzy, am I right?

My Favorite Things

I've decided that, in order to keep myself in the blogging habit, I will create a 'My Favorite Things' tag. (Insert applause here.)
I have quite a few favorite stores, so each week (or every few days; I guess it depends) I will be detailing some of my favorite things from these stores.
Just thought I'd give y'all the heads-up.
IKEA comin' up next.

Prom 2011

Last night I attended Prom.
Chancelor arrived at our house at around 6:30. As usual, he came bearing gifts (a liter of Mountain Dew!). Since it was too early to leave, we started watching Donnie Darko. We got to the "Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette; Gargamel did" part before departing. We chilled with some pretty cool people; some of them I knew (Sarah and Chris), and some were somewhat new (Glenn and Kalie).
It was honestly quite boring; the dance floor was packed and I'm not much of a dancer anyways, and neither is Chance.
The DJ had never heard of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up, which disappointed us greatly, but sitting at a ten-person table wasn't all that bad, I suppose. They had Sprite in glass bottles, which was pretty legit. There were also many macarons (which are exceedingly delicious by the way) and other nice treats.
My sister seemed to have a nice time dancing, which is cool. She probably danced enough for all three of us; plus it's not like anyone missed me on the dance floor.

At around midnight we left and met up with the rest of the group at IHOP. As we walked in, the lady at the front asked how many we would need a table for.
"Party of nine," Chance replied.
The woman was visibly irked and said, "You have got to be kidding me."
We shook our heads and she walked off in a huff. Around ten minutes later, the rest of the group finally came, and we were seated by a much nicer and more friendly young woman.
I, being one never to back out of a challenge, accepted Glenn's dare to eat all five of my buttermilk pancakes.
I wound up eating the equivalent of maybe three and a half pancakes, feeling rather nauseous afterwards.
I finally got home to my comfortable, warm bed at around two in the morning and promptly fell asleep.

All in all, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't necessarily great, either.
Would I do it again? Probably not.
Would I do another midnight IHOP run? Heck yeah.

Long Time, No Blogging

Hello dear readers (if there is actually anyone reading this blog).
Not that you care, but I haven't posted in awhile and am finally returning to the blogging world!
I just made my dear mother a blog, and she is my first official follower. Hooray!

I've done quite a bit of reading so far this year, which includes:

  • The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins
  • Catching Fire, Suzanne Collins
  • Mockingjay, Suzanne Collins
  • Flash Burnout, L.K. Madigan
  • Hamlet, William Shakespeare
  • A Beautiful Mind, Sylvia Nasar
I would recommend them all, and will probably start making 'movie/book review' posts.

This year, I have also seen the films:
  • I Am Number Four
  • The Green Hornet
  • Sucker Punch
Last year I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, which was immensely enjoyable as were all the others. It's quite sad to see the Harry Potter series come to an end - many of us have grown up with Harry, Hermione, and Ron, and it's almost like losing a close friend after these long years of entering their adventures through Rowling's wonderful writing.
I'm late on seeing Donnie Darko, but it is a fantastic film and Jake Gyllenhaal portrays the title character amazingly. Jena Malone is also in this film, as well as Sucker Punch, and was brilliant in both.

I've been taking lots of pictures, finishing up high school (I should have my diploma in the fall), and will soon be attending Prom! (Tomorrow, to be exact.)
Yes, I am attending Prom with a good friend of mine and my sister's, Chancelor. He is indeed very good company and an excellent individual to converse with, so tomorrow evening should be quite fun.

Hoşça kal! (Turkish for 'goodbye'.)

Meeting Rick Riordan

Last night, October 24, 2010, was one of the GREATEST nights of my life!
Why, you ask?
Well, I spent five hours at La Cantera with some of my best friends, got to play with iPads and GarageBand in the Apple Store, and met one of the best authors of my time, Rick Riordan!
It was definitely worth it. The place was hot, and crowded, and full of kids and adults pushing their way to be able to see him, and I had to go up and down the escalators to get good pictures, but it was amazing when they finally came to our ticket letters, RR.
He's so nice, just as I thought he would be! I got my books The Lightning ThiefThe Red Pyramid, and the opening novel to his new series The Heroes of Olympus, The Lost Hero, signed.

Now you're all going to think I'm foolish for not realizing this before, but he lives in San Antonio! I know, I know—how did I not know this before?
Well, anyways, it was a great night with great friends and I got to meet a great author and it was just...GREAT!
Here are some pictures.

I ran into my friend, Ashley Smith, at the Starbucks inside Barnes & Noble.

Can you say, HUGE CROWD?

Meeting Mr. Riordan after over five hours of waiting, and him signing my book.
I was absolutely beside myself, as you can see by the look on my face.

So yes, last night was extremely eventful, and great, and epic, and...I'm way tired now.
